2. Aspiring sincerely to an international peace based on justice and order

〈base A on B〉 で「AをBに基(もと)づかせる」「Aの基礎をBに置く」。

Article 9 of our Constitution is based on [upon] our bitter experience.

3. Aspiring sincerely to an international peace based on justice and order the Japanese people forever renounce war

No sooner had I regained my ability to feel the cold than I noticed how incredibly thirsty I was.

[ Ryu Murakami, "In The Miso Soup" ]

→ In the Miso Soup (Amazon)

No sooner had I regained my ability

to feel the cold than I noticed

how incredibly thirsty I was.

No sooner hadIregainedmy ability to feel the coldthanInoticedhow incredibly thirsty I was

  • my ability to feel the cold
  • how incredibly thirsty I was

No sooner had I regained my ability to feel the cold

than I noticed how incredibly thirsty I was.

◆ no sooner ... than ~ の構成

no sooner ... than ~ はなぜ「...

He had no sooner seen me than he went out.

He had no sooner seen me than he went out.

He had no sooner seen me than he went out.
    ↓
No sooner had he seen me than he went out.

I had no sooner regained my ability to feel the cold than I noticed how incredibly thirsty I was.

He had no sooner seen me than he went out.

No sooner had I regained my ability to feel the cold than I noticed how incredibly thirsty I was.
